Having a smile makeover can be one of the most important decisions a person can make. A “one size fits all” approach to a smile makeover can often lead to less than satisfying results. At the Orange Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, I spend a great deal of time designing your new smile before any procedures are performed in your mouth. There are many details to porcelain veneers that many patients are not aware of. I speak with my patients about what they want their new porcelain veneers to look like in terms of size, shape, and color. Most do not realize that the gum tissue can be evened out easily by using our laser and how much that alone can improve a smile. The sizes of the front teeth fall into a proportion that is based on the “Golden Proportion” and most violations of this proportionality lends itself to a mediocre at best outcome of the entire smile. Texture and translucency of the porcelain veneers can be critical as well in determining the outcome. These details and many more have to be considered when designing your new smile makeover with porcelain veneers. That’s where additional training at programs such as LVI is so valuable for dentists performing cosmetic dentstry.
